For the innovative Buurtschap te Veld project in Eindhoven, Staka supplied five DL147ZZ stainless steel roof access hatches, each paired with a matching extension ladder. These hatches, featuring a clear opening of 1400 x 700 mm, provide safe and reliable roof access.
Buurtschap te Veld is a unique residential area on the outskirts of Eindhoven. The project comprises 101 circular homes – 46 ground-level houses and 55 apartments – all designed to be demountable and relocatable after 30 years. This approach supports the goal of tackling housing shortages without placing a long-term burden on the natural landscape.
Sustainability is central to the development. Buildings are constructed using concrete that emits 60% less CO₂, and incorporate reusable materials, timber façades, and all-electric systems powered by heat pumps and solar panels. Green roofs, biodiversity-enhancing measures, and car-free planning further promote natural living.
The choice of the DL147ZZ roof access hatches with extension ladders reflects the need for a practical solution for occasional roof access, such as maintenance or inspection. Staka’s extension ladders are lightweight, easy to handle, and conveniently storable using optional wall brackets.
A key advantage is the integrated SafeStepSystem – a unique Staka innovation. The top rung of the ladder is securely mounted into the upstand of the roof hatch, ensuring:
The ladder hooks firmly into the SafeStep rung using specially designed brackets and can be optionally locked to prevent removal while in use.
